Funds will benefit agency’s foster care, adoption and mentoring services

Royal Oak, MI Child Safe Michigan, an affiliate of human services agency Judson Center, raised nearly $350,000 at its 2023 Legends of Tomorrow gala on Friday, June 9, at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac.

The fundraiser benefits Child Safe Michigan’s foster care, adoption and mentoring services for neglected and abused children in Southeast Michigan.

“Child Safe Michigan is an award-winning agency that has made a difference in hundreds of young lives,” said Judson Center President & CEO Lenora Hardy-Foster. “We are committed to improving the lives of children and families in our community, and providing a safe, nurturing home environment is extremely important to a child’s growth and successful transition into adulthood.”

During the evening’s program, Hardy-Foster and Child Safe Michigan Board Chair Keith Pomeroy welcomed the 220 guests and thanked the many corporate, foundation and individual sponsors who provided major support for the event.

“Thanks to our generous supporters, Child Safe Michigan successfully arranged 192 foster care placements, finalized 132 adoptions and matched 64 youth with mentors last year,” said Pomeroy. “The money raised at this year’s Legends of Tomorrow gala will enable us to reach more children who need hope for the future.”

The 2023 Legends of Tomorrow gala co-chairs are Child Safe Michigan Board Member David Grossman and Julie Adelson, both of Franklin, MI.  Child Safe Michigan founder, Elizabeth Brazilian, was in attendance and offered her appreciation to the sponsors, donors and friends who have helped the agency fulfill its mission.

Gala guests enjoyed a strolling dinner, silent and live auctions, a raffle and an afterglow with dancing and entertainment provided by Nuclassica.
