Royal Oak Patch:Royal Oak Teams With Berkley Schools For MLK Day Of Service

01/11/2018 - 9:30am

On Monday, Jan, 15 the City of Royal Oak will partner with Berkley Schools in inviting the community to take part in the second annual MLK Service Day: A Day On, Not a Day Off. According to the Berkley Schools, volunteers will gather at 8 am for breakfast at Berkley High School. They'll view student performances and presentations about Martin Luther King. After the morning program, volunteers will either stay at the school to make kits for distribution, or travel to remote sites to work.

Projects for the day include making Valentine's cards for the Judson Center, sorting care packages for children in foster care, assisting at an area food pantry, and cleanup and maintenance outdoors in Detroit's Brightmoor neighborhood. If you're interested in the Brightmoor project, the MLK Service Day organizers have specific instructions.
