"There were like hundreds of people wanting particular children so it depends on need," Willow said. "If a child has very high medical need, there are usually only a few families that apply. So children with less needs, there were more families."

Parent Education Classes

Parent Education Classes:

Beginning in 2006 and continuing to-date, Judson Center has contracted with DHHS to provide group-based Parent Education Classes to Macomb County families who have substantiated allegations of abuse or neglect or children at risk of maltreatment.  Classes are two and one-half hours in length and run for 15 consecutive weeks. The program utilizes the evidence-based Bavolek Nurturing Program Curriculum to increase paretning skills around age-appropriate positive discipline, empathy, child development, family roles, and child indepence.

Parents are referred to the program through the Macomb County Department of Human Services.

Due to the nature of the work we do, Judson Center upholds the privacy of the children, adults and families we serve. Therefore, photos and names may be changed to protect identity.
