Farmington Hills, Mich. — April 30, 2020—Judson Center, a multi-county human service agency that provides autism programs, behavioral health services, child and family services including foster care and adoption in tandem with its affiliate, Child Safe Michigan, employment services for persons with disabilities, and primary healthcare for all ages, is pleased to announce it is among 18 Michigan community mental health agencies receiving grant funding and designation as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC). The announcement was made by Judson Center President and CEO Lenora Hardy-Foster.

The funding is made possible from the Excellence in Mental Health and Addiction Treatment Act by Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) and Senator Roy Blunt (R-MO), which established CCBHC to transform the way behavioral health and addiction services are delivered across the country. As noted in a press release from Senator Stabenow’s office, the grant funding recipients are required to provide a comprehensive set of services, including 24/7/365 crisis services, outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment services; immediate screenings, risk assessments, and diagnoses; and care coordination with emergency rooms, law enforcement, and veteran groups. The program is administered by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.

“This funding, which will be $2 million for one year, represents a milestone in Judson Center’s 96-year history,” Hardy-Foster said. “With our Behavioral Health Clinic in Warren now designated as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic, we can expand our services to broaden the impact, healing and recovery of our community members. We are so grateful that Senator Stabenow was able to secure this funding for Judson Center and 17 other Michigan community health agencies. As we plan to address the new mental health and substance use disorder challenges presented by COVID-19, we will be empowered to expand our mission of providing high quality treatment free of judgment and stigma.”

Judson Center provided behavioral health services to nearly 1,100 individuals and families in 2019. Services provided in its Warren clinic include individual, family and group therapy using evidence-based practices; psychiatric services, case management, and peer support. Areas of specialty include children and young adults with autism, families involved with foster care and adoption systems, individuals with concurrent mental illness and substance use disorder, and children with severe emotional challenges. Judson Center works in collaboration with outside providers such as primary care physicians, the legal system and schools to ensure comprehensive treatment of the whole person.

Judson Center’s Behavioral Health programs in Warren are integrated with the organization’s primary care practice, Judson Center Family Health.
