Autism Connections Frequently Asked Questions
How do I schedule an appointment or sign up for a group?
Have you or your child been enrolled in a paid service during the past 6 months?
  • If YES, then just call the office or send in a registration form.
  • If NO, you may need to schedule an intake appointment. Most services begin with an intake appointment which is used to collect paperwork, register the consumer into our system, find out more about the consumer and family, and create goals for treatment.
Please call the office to schedule an intake appointment.
What if I sign up for a group, then change my mind?
Refunds for classes, groups, workshops, and special events are as follows:
  • Cancellation at least 72 hours prior: full refund or full transfer to another service
  • Cancellation less than 72 hours prior: 75% refund or transfer to another service
  • Cancellation after first session attended: 50% refund of remaining sessions minus cost of session(s) already attended.
Note: Classes and groups must be paid in full prior to the first session. There will be no discounts or make-ups for missed sessions. The only exception to this policy is if Judson Center has to cancel a session due to absence of therapist. Classes and groups may be cancelled if the minimum required numbers is not met. All participants will receive a full refund if a class is cancelled due to lack of enrollment

What if I need to cancel an appointment or forget to show up for one?
  • Cancellations- Please contact the center at least 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule an individual appointment. If you cancel in less than 24 hours, you are allowed one make-up session. If this occurs a second time, you will be charged a $25 fee and your visits will be suspended and considered for a loss in services.
  • No Show- If you do not show up for a scheduled individual session, you will be allowed one make-up session and you will be charged a $25 no-show fee. If you do not show up for a second time, visits may be suspended and considered for a loss in services.
What if my child is sick and I don't have time to cancel ahead of time?
Many of our children with ASD have compromised immune systems. We would not only appreciate, but are making it imperative, that sick people not come in to the office where germs could be spread to these children who may not be able to fight off germs as well as other children. If you, or your child, has or has had any of the following symptoms within the past 48 hours, we ask that you stay home:
  • Fever over 99 degrees
  • Vomiting or diarrhea
  • Sore throat
  • Wet, productive cough
  • Runny nose in which excessive tissue use is necessary
  • Rash on any part of his/her body
If your child appears to have any of these symptoms while at Judson Center, we will ask that you take him/her home and allow him/her to rest and recuperate. If your child should become physically ill during a therapy session, we will ask you, the parent, to assist in cleaning up the child and any bodily fluids.

Remember, the best way to prevent the spread of germs is to wash hands FREQUENTLY. Please encourage your child to wash his/her hands frequently, especially during this season of colds and flu. It is also imperative for your child to sleep well and booster his/her immune system with healthy foods. If you or your child needs to miss an appointment due to illness, you may reschedule without being charged a noshow fee. Please cancel before noon of the day on which your child has the appointment. Thank you for your respect of all the children and families who come through Judson for treatment.

Where are your offices located?
  • Oakland County office: 4410 W. 13 Mile Rd., Royal Oak, MI 48073
  • Macomb County office: 12220 E. Thirteen Mile Rd. Warren, MI 48088
  • Washtenaw County office: 4925 Packard Road, Ann Arbor, MI 48108

We also provide services in consumers' homes and schools. If you would like home or school-based services, please let us know. We may request that the intake appointment be done in the office, but then home or school services can begin. There may be an additional charge for time/mileage if in excess of 10 miles from the office.

What times are the offices open?
The business hours are generally 8:30-5:00pm. However, there are frequently evening appointments available as well. At Royal Oak, the main lobby doors to the building are locked at 5:00pm. There is a door marked “Evening Entrance”, which is accessible off of the Greenfield parking lot. You may need to ring a doorbell to get in if it is after 5:00. Doors are kept locked for security reasons. At the Macomb County office the doors will remain open until the last appointment of the evening leaves. We are open on some Saturdays for special events, but not on a regular basis at this time.

Do you accept insurance?
Judson Center is in the process of contracting with several insurance providers; however, at the current time, we do not bill insurance companies nor are new contracted with any HMOs. Although we do not accept private insurance, we are happy to give you an itemized billing receipt that you can submit if you have out of network coverage.

Is there financial assistance available?
Judson Center is a non-profit organization and we will never turn anyone away for lack of ability to pay. We are willing to work with families to make arrangements for payment plans. We also have a limited scholarship fund available to help those in need with the cost of our services. Visit our Financial Resources Page for more information.

At the Macomb office, we have a contract with Macomb CMH which provides the Children’s Waiver. The waiver program covers occupational therapy, speech therapy and music therapy. You may also want to become affiliated with the following agencies: Macomb Oakland Regional Center (MORC), Easter Seals, or Community Living Services. They frequently pay for our services through the contract provisions we have with them. Other sources of financial assistance include the Family Support Subsidy (available through MORC for children with an AI certification in schools whose parents make less than $60,000 on their Michigan Taxes)- this gives the family an automatic $222.11 each month; Social Security Income; grants through organizations such as Everyday Miracles (www.everydaymiracles.org); Lions Club, Elks Club, Rotary Club, etc. and sometimes your school will pay for private services if they are unable to provide the kinds of services your child needs in school.
